Examples of
the XP desktop
(I love XP.
Appearance and function are much improved)
Now Vista
is released & it's even nicer

Above
is the basic desktop with the "Azul" Wallpaper.
Note that the only icon that will show on a fresh XP installation
is the Recycle Bin. My example above shows an added icon for AOL.
The text effect is very 3 dimensional. I really like the appearance.

Here
is the same desktop with shortcut icons added looking more like the
95/98/Me style. The idea with XP is to keep the desktop uncluttered.
All the shortcuts are in the start menu and look different. See the
figure below.

This
is the new XP Start Menu. The list on the left represents recently
opened programs. The list on the right are the kind of shortcuts that
used to be on the desktop. If you still want them on the desktop,
right click the item and choose "Show On Desktop". Notice
the "Log Off" and "Turn Off Computer" appear different
than previous versions.
Finally,
check out the next picture:

Clicking
the "All Programs" brings up the classic program list. This
list has been added to considerably by the programs we have added.
A default installation may have much less, but will represent all
installed programs. Also, this list has already been reorganized by
creating categories and moving shortcuts into the categories.
