Organizing Bookmarks in Netscape Navigator 2007 note: don't know how many folks are still using Netscape but the web site still offers a new version. However their statement about the download says "Whats Included in the Download? Installation may include Netscape 8.1.3 Browser, Netscape ISP, McAfee, Rhapsody, Real Arcade and WeatherBug". Be careful. I really don't like programs like weatherbug. They take too much control. Remember Netscape is owned by AOL!!! Obviously since I no longer use Nescape browser, I have no idea if these instructionsa are valid in the new browser. Step one is to add Bookmarks. Click on Bookmarks, Add Bookmark. The menu closes. Click bookmarks to see it on the bottom of the list. See Fig 1:
After adding a number of new bookmarks, the list gets too long to find things. Time to Organize. Click Bookmarks, Edit Bookmarks. See Fig 1. A new window opens listing all folders and bookmarks. A (+) in a box means there are items inside that are not displayed. Click a (+) to see the items and the symbol changes to a (-). Click the (-) and the display collapses.
The first item of business is to add folders. See the main Bookmarks page for a sample list. Be sure the top item is selected. Obviously yours will not say the same as mine. Then select File, New Folder. See Fig 3
This will open a new dialog box. See fig 4: Type in the name of a folder and click OK. Repeat the process for each new folder you want in your list.
Your bookmarks can be moved into any folder by either of two methods. See fig 2. You can drag and drop if you have good mouse dexterity. If not, use Edit, Copy and Paste. Select the bookmark, Edit, Copy. Select the folder, Edit, Paste. The list does not fall into alphabetical order. You can drag items up or down a list to change location. So what do you think? Not too hard is it? Give it a try. You'll be an expert in no time. |
