Unwanted links or Link Hijacking"There's trouble in River City" as the song goes. Here are some of the irritations we have to deal with on the web: Viruses, web bugs, spam, Pop Up Ads, Locking you into a site, redirecting you to porno or camera sales. Now here is a new slap in the face. Called Link Hijacking. I first heard about it from my newsletter from Fred Langa. You can check out his discussion and description at http://www.langa.com/ and look for the 2003-05-15 issue. You can get more information at http://www.unwantedlinks.com/examples.htm and run a check to see if your browser has the unwanted plug ins. Now let me provide a simple explanation of what happens. You move your mouse over a web site and when your mouse hovers over certain phrases, they highlight as if they are a link. If you click them, they work as a link. The crappy part is that THE LINK IS NOT PART OF THE WEB PAGE. It is generated by the Plug-in program added into YOUR PC. But guess who gets blamed for the apparent link!!!
